MORGANTOWN, W. Va - Seniors Alise McDonald and Jackie Schweitzer joined sophomore Avis Hixon as Tiger gymnasts competing at the NCAA Morgantown Regional Meet at WVU Coliseum on the campus of West Virginia University on Saturday evening.
All three Tiger gymnasts turned in solid performances.
Competing as an individual all-around, McDonald finished 16th in the all-around competition with a 38.075 score. McDonald, who led the Tigers to the ECAC championship two weeks ago by winning the ECAC all-around title, earned a 9.80 vault to tie for 14th place. She also finished 37th on bars (9.40) and 26th on beam (9.60). She struggled on floor exercise and earned a 9.275 score.
A native of Woodlawn, Md., McDonald finished her career as the eighth-leading scorer in Towson history.
Schweitzer, who was honored as the ECAC Specialist of the Year, competed on bars and beam at the regional meet. She earned a 9.60 on bars to tie for 33rd place. On beam, she tied for 13th place with a 9.775 score. A native of Hicksville, N.Y., Schweitzer finished her career as the ninth-leading scorer in school history.
Hixon came up with an outstanding effort on vault as she earned a 9.825 score to tie for 12th place. She also did well on floor with a 9.725 score that tied for 30th place.
In the team competition, Stanford finished first with a 196.775 team score while Michigan was second (195.800). Both teams advance to nationals.
