Dangerfield Serves As Vocal Leader

TOWSON, Md. - From the sidelines at the Tigers' pre-season practice sessions, it is easy to locate Jordan Dangerfield.

All you have to do is listen. It is very likely that he is the loudest, most vocal player on the field.

"It's not hard to find him," says Coach Rob Ambrose. "He is the most vocal player out there. He is also one of the most physical players we have.

"He is so passionate about football," he adds. "It is obvious that he loves to play. He is one of the team captains and he is our defensive leader."

Despite the fact that he is only playing his second season with the Tigers, it seems like Jordan has been a member of the football program for much longer.

He spent his freshman season at Hofstra and appeared in eight games. He made 23 tackles and intercepted two passes.

When Hofstra discontinued its football program after the 2009 season, Jordan needed a new home. He found it at Towson and he fit in immediately.

From the start of the season, Jordan was one of the Tigers' top defensive players. In the season opener at Indiana, he made a team high ten tackles and forced a fumble. He played a key role in the Tigers' five-overtime win over Coastal Carolina. In the marathon win, he recorded nine tackles and broke up two passes. He also made a game-saving pass breakup on Coastal's two-point conversion try, ending the game.

The Tigers' leading tackler in five games, he made a career high 13 tackles at Richmond. He also recorded ten tackles in the Tigers' upset bid against #7 James Madison.

When the season came to an end, he was the team leader with 96 tackles. He also finished second in the Colonial Athletic Association for tackles by a defensive back, averaging 8.7 tackles per game.

It was hardly a surprise when his teammates voted him as one of the team captains for the 2011 season.

The Tigers continue their pre-season practice with two workouts on Thursday.
