TOWSON, Md. - After the conclusion of the Tigers' pre-season football camp, Rob Ambrose sat down with TowsonTigers.com to talk about the camp.
QUESTION: What did you learn about your team during the pre-season?
COACH AMBROSE: "We learned that the players on this team care deeply about Towson University and each other. They are starting to understand the commitment and sacrifice it takes to succeed at the Division 1 level.
QUESTION: What do you feel is the strength of your team entering the season?
COACH AMBROSE: "I feel that the strength of this team is their unity and togetherness."
QUESTION: Was it a relatively injury-free pre-season? What were the most significant injuries?
COACH AMBROSE: "Although there were the usual bumps and bruises, there were only two significant injuries. Trevor Walker hurt his foot and Justin Davis had a knee injury. We aren't sure how long they will be sidelined."
QUESTION: In what area do you feel that your team has the most depth?
COACH AMBROSE: "I really don't' feel that we have very good depth at all. We are a very young football team. We have experience but are very, vry young."
QUESTION: Your special teams seem to be much better, especially with your freshman punters and 2 explosive return men. Is that a fair assessment?
COACH AMBROSE: "We spend more time on special teams than any other school I know. We feel that the seeds of that work are starting to show now."
QUESTION: How do you feel about opening the season at home against Morgan State?
COACH AMBROSE: "Opening at home against Morgan State is a great thing. In fact, it means a lot to open with three straight home games. Opening at home against Morgan State provides excitement for our kids, our school, and our community."
QUESTION: How good do you think the Tigers can be in the 2011 season?
COACH AMBROSE: "As long as we can stay healthy, I am excited about our team's outlook this year."
QUESTION: Who do you feel is the team to beat in the Colonial Athletic Association this year?
COACH AMBROSE: "Have you seen our league? I can't answer that question. Every team is the team to beat."
