Dominique Booker Leads Tigers To Victory

TOWSON, Md. - With the large number of running backs on the Tiger roster this season, it seems likely that each of them will get a chance to shine.

On Saturday night when the Tigers beat #20 Villanova, it was junior Dominique Booker's moment in the spotlight.

Midway through the first quarter, the Tigers faced a third down-and-15 at the Villanova 47-yard line. Quarterback Grant Enders went back to pass and found Booker on the right side. The Richmond native caught the pass and raced into the end zone for the touchdown.

"When we called the play, I thought it had a chance to be a big one," said Booker. "They weren't rotating over to that side and that it may be wide open. I caught the ball and heard everyone on the bench yell 'Go." I turned around and the only thing I saw was a couple of my linemen and plenty of open field."

Booker's first touchdown of the season gave the Tigers a 7-0 lead they never relinquished.

In the fourth quarter, a play by Booker helped the Tigers clinch the victory. With the Tigers leading by 24-10, they had a third down at the Villanova three-yard line. Booker got the ball and bulled his way into the end zone for a touchdown, carrying a few Wildcats with him.

"All the credit goes to my offensive line," Booker says. "I couldn't run anywhere without them. On that second touchdown run, my weight room work paid off. Working with Coach (Jeremy) Pick has helped me and made me much stronger."

In the Tigers' win over Villanova, Booker ran for 13 yards on five carries. He also caught three passes for 57 yards as the Tigers improved to 2-0.
