Tiger Seniors To Play Meaningful Home Finale

TOWSON, Md. - It is been a long-standing tradition for Tiger football that the team's seniors are honored before their final home game.

However, this group of seniors has made such an impact that they may not be playing their final home game today.

Although they are going to be honored today, they are hoping that they are going to keep playing football after the end of the regular season. That is because the Tigers are in contention for their first-ever NCAA FCS playoff appearance.

Colin Bass, Tremayne Dameron, Mike Evans, Henry Glackin, Justin Harris, Mike Hurley, Kyle Moore, Nick Oates, Chris Patterson, Brian Potts, Paul Stefanik, Marcus Valentine and Tyler Wharton have been in the middle of the Tigers' dramatic turnaround this season.

"These young men represent the best there is in Towson football," says Coach Rob Ambrose. "They have seen the worst of times and they helped to build the foundation for the best of times. They understand the value of teamwork and they are the ones who stuck with it.

"It is vindicating for me to see these players smiling and enjoying this season," he added. "We are indebted to them for their service and commitment."

No. 68 - COLIN BASS (OL, Thomas Johnson H.S., Frederick, Md.): An offensive lineman whose career was hindered by injuries, Colin Bass was a very versatile player who saw action at the center and guard positions. In 2009, he made the only start of his career when he played center for the Tigers in their game at Northeastern.

No. 34 - TREMAYNE DAMERON (TB, King George H.S., King George, Va.): The Tigers' workhorse back in 2009 and 2010, Tremayne Dameron will be graduating this year and will not use his final year of eligibility. The Tigers' leading rusher in 2009, he is the 13th-leading rusher in school history with 1,292 yards. Last week, he led the Tigers to a win at Maine by rushing for 109 yards and scoring on a 33-yard touchdown pass.

No. 91 - MIKE EVANS (TE, Reservoir H.S., Fulton, Md.): A reserve tight end for most of his career, Mike Evans has been a valuable player during his career. In October, he made one of the biggest plays of the year when he caught a two-point conversion pass with 3:14 left in the Tigers' comeback win at Old Dominion.

No. 74 - HENRY GLACKIN (OT, Solanco H.S., Quarryville, Pa.): A four-year starter at tackle, Henry Glackin has been one of the Tiger co-captains this season. The leader on the Tigers' outstanding offensive line, he has mentored the four sophomores that also start. A starter in all nine games this season, he will be making his 30th career start against New Hampshire.

No. 13 - JUSTIN HARRIS (DB, Centennial H.S., Ellicott City, Md.): One of the most versatile players on the Tigers' roster, Justin Harris has been a wide receiver, a return specialist and a cornerback during his career. Last year, he made a mid-season switch to cornerback when injuries left the Tigers short-handed. In his senior year, he has been a starting cornerback and is ninth on the team with 30 tackles. He has also broken up three passes and forced a fumble.
"Justin is a multi-talented player who has helped us on offense and defense," says Coach Ambrose. "His selfless attitude has been as asset to our team."

No. 87 - KYLE MOORE (WR, Cretin-Durham Hall H.S., St. Paul, Minn.): A transfer from the University of Minnesota, Kyle Moore joined the Tiger program prior to the 2010 season. As a junior, he played in ten games and caught six passes for 47 yards. He has also been a solid performer on special teams.

No. 8 - NICK OATES (SS, Springbrook H.S., Silver Spring, Md.): A four-year veteran who started his career as a wide receiver, Nick Oates has overcome a number of injuries and he is having the best season of his career. As a junior, he played in nine games and made 30 tackles with an interception. He also led the team by breaking up five passes. A starter in eight games in 2011, he has made 17 tackles and broken up three passes. He has also forced a fumble and intercepted a pass. In the last two games, he has blocked two field goal attempts.

No. 99 - ROB OSBORNE (DT, Clarksburg H.S., Germantown, Md.): A four-year performer on the defensive line, Rob Osborne has contributed as a starter and a reserve in his career. In his career, he has played in 38 games and made 88 tackles. In the Tigers' win at Maine last week, he made six tackles. In his senior season, he has played in all nine games and is tied for 12th on the team with 24 tackles. He has also recovered two fumbles in his career.

No. 4 - CHRIS PATTERSON (LB, Northwest H.S., Germantown, Md.): Very few players have made as much improvement as Chris Patterson has during his career. As a senior, he has played in all nine games and started three times. With 27 tackles, he ranks tenth on the team. In a starting role, he helped the Tigers to a 31-10 win over Villanova in September. He made seven tackles, recorded a sack and forced a fumble. In his career, Patterson has played in 32 games and made eight starts. He has made 128 tackles in his career.
"Chris is one of the hardest workers on our team," says Coach Ambrose. "He has made tremendous improvement. His selfless attitude and team-first mentality have helped our program immensely."

No. 10 - BRIAN POTTS (QB, Caravel Academy, Middletown, Del.): One of the Tiger co-captains, Brian Potts is an outstanding student who has provided solid depth at the quarterback position during his career. In addition to his play at quarterback, he has served as the holder on Tiger placekicks this season. In his career, he has completed 56-of-103 passes for 548 yards and a touchdown. Last year, he was the winner of the Tigers' Academic Award.
"Brian is a smart player and a highly-respected team captain," says Coach Ambrose. "He has practiced on both sides of the ball and has been a selfless player."

No. 43 - PAUL STEFANIK (FB, Penn-Trafford H.S., Irwin, Pa.): A tremendous team leader who transferred to Towson from Kent State, Paul Stefanik played linebacker and fullback during his career. After making 42 tackles as a linebacker in 2008, he was moved to fullback for his sophomore season. Unfortunately, a number of injuries kept him sidelined. An incredibly strong player, he remained focused on the team's improvement throughout his career.

No. 55 - MARCUS VALENTINE (DT, Winslow Township H.S., Sicklerville, N.J.): A three-year starter on the defensive line, Marcus Valentine is one of the Tiger co-captains this season. In his career, he has started 31 consecutive games and has made 142 tackles. As a senior, he ranks 11th on the team with 27 tackles. He is also second on the team with three quarterback sacks.
"Marcus is an extremely tough player who has been the unsung hero of our defensive line," says Coach Ambrose. "He has been a fantastic team captain and he is a great representative of Towson football."

No. 44 - TYLER WHARTON (FB, Allegany H.S., LoVale, Md.): A second team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection as a junior, Tyler Wharton is having an outstanding senior season. A tremendous blocker, he has also excelled as a receiver out of the backfield. He has caught 11 passes for 173 yards and five of his receptions have been touchdown catches.
