When the Tigers beat New Hampshire on Saturday, it was their first-ever win over UNH ... They had been 0-7 against the Wildcats ... That made UNH the third team that the Tigers beat for the first time ever .... On Sept. 24, the Tigers beat Colgate for their first victory in nine games against the Raiders ... On Oct. 22, the Tigers also ended a seven-game losing streak against William and Mary, 38-27 ... It was their first-ever win over the Tribe.
GAME-TIME WEATHER: On Saturday, the Tigers played their first home game of the season in the daylight and the weather was outstanding ... Sunny skies and 58-degree temperatures greeted the Wildcats and the Tigers as they took the field.
GREAT EIGHT: With their 56-42 win over No. 7 New Hampshire on Saturday, the Tigers have won eight games for the first time since 1994 when Towson posted an 8-2 record ... The Tigers finished the season as the 26th-ranked team in NCAA Division I-AA.
HOME RUN: The Tigers earned their fifth home win of the season on Saturday with their victory over New Hampshire ... It is the first time that Towson has won five home games in a single season since 2003 when they had a 5-1 record at Unitas Stadium ... The Tigers have also averaged 37.0 points per game at home this season.
AND THEN, THERE WERE TWO: With the Tigers' win over New Hampshire on Saturday, Towson is now tied with Maine for first place in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 6-1 league record ... Both teams are now 8-2 as the Black Bears defeated Massachusetts, 32-21, on Saturday afternoon ... The Tigers defeated Maine, 40-30, at Alfond Stadium last week.
STRIKING GOLD: The Tigers scored a season-high 56 points against New Hampshire on Saturday evening ... It is the first time the Tigers have scored 50 or more points in a game since Sept. 10, 2005 when they defeated Lock Haven by a 70-0 margin at Unitas Stadium ... In addition, the 56 points scored by the Tigers are the most by any CAA team this season.
30 ROCK: For the ninth time in ten games this season, the Tigers scored over 30 points in Saturday's victory over New Hampshire ... They have also scored over 30 points in all nine games against FCS teams ... The only time that Towson has failed to score at least 30 points was on Oct. 1 at Maryland, a 28-3 loss.
40 SOMETHING: In addition, the Tigers recorded their fourth 40-point effort of the season on Saturday ... It is the first time since 1994 that they have scored at least 40 points in four games ... During the 1994 season, the Tigers scored 40 or more points five times.
RUSH HOUR: For the second straight week, the Tigers rushed for over 300 yards as they compiled 334 rushing yards on just 39 carries ... The Tigers also had 334 rushing yards against Maine last week ... With the 334 rushing yards against New Hampshire, the Tigers have now rushed for 2,480 yards in 10 games this season, a 248.0 average ... It is the most rushing yardage by the Tigers since 1993 when they set a school record with 2,969 yards in 10 games.
SIX PACK: Freshman tailback Terrance West rushed for over 100 yards for the sixth straight game after running for a season-high 261 yards in the Tigers' 56-42 win over New Hampshire on Saturday ... It is the longest such streak since Noah Read, '02 ran for eight straight 100-yard games in 2000.
BICENTENNIAL: With a season-high 261 yards against UNH, freshman tailback Terrance West became the first Towson player to rush for 200 yards since Noah Read had 218 yards against Lafayette on Sept. 8, 2001 ... The 261 yards by West are the fifth-highest total in school history and the most since Tony Vinson had 264 yards against James Madison in 1992.
WEST GOES FOR 1,000: By rushing for 261 yards on Saturday, freshman tailback Terrance West went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season and will enter next Saturday's regular season finale against Rhode Island with 1,190 yards ... He has posted the 10th 1,000-yard rushing season in school history and the first since Noah Read had 1,422 yards in 2000.
VIEW FROM THE TOP: Freshman tailback Terrance West's 261 yards are the most by a player in the Colonial Athletic Association this season ... On Saturday afternoon, Jonathan Grimes of William & Mary had 227 yards against Old Dominion, which had been the most by a CAA player.
OH SO CLOSE: Freshman tailback Terrance West finished Saturday's game just three yards shy of tying the Colonial Athletic Association freshman single-game rushing record ... On Nov. 11, 1995, Jerry Azumah of New Hampshire ran for 264 yards against Villanova.
SILVER SCORER: With his four touchdowns on Saturday, freshman tailback Terrance West set a pair of Towson single-season records ... He has now scored 25 rushing touchdowns in 9 games, which breaks the previous record of 23 set by Tony Vinson in 1993 ... In addition, West's 25 offensive touchdowns are the most by any player in a single season, breaking the previous record of 23 TDS by Vinson in 1993.
FOUR SCORE: Freshman tailback Terrance West rushed for four touchdowns against New Hampshire on Saturday, tying a season high ... It is the third time this year that West has rushed for four touchdowns ... He also had four touchdowns against Richmond on Oct. 8 and Delaware on Oct. 29.
BRINGING IT BACK: Freshman Derrick Joseph returned the opening kickoff of the second half 93 yards for a touchdown to give Towson a 49-28 lead ... It is the sixth time in school history that a Towson player has returned a kickoff back for a touchdown, but the first time since Sept. 9, 1995 when Maurice Sydnor had an 89-yard return against Butler.
TWO STEP: Sophomore tight end James Oboh recorded the first multi-touchdown game of his career with a pair of receiving TDs against New Hampshire on Saturday ... In addition, he had a career-high 97 receiving yards on three catches ... Oboh entered Saturday's game with just two career touchdowns, including a score against William & Mary on Oct. 22.
SWEET 16: Junior defensive back Jordan Dangerfield had a career-high 16 tackles in the Tigers' win over New Hampshire on Saturday night, marking his fourth double-digit tackle game of the season ... The Tigers' leader with 81 tackles in eight games, Dangerfield also recorded his second interception of the season.
3rd DOWN SUCCESS: Against UNH, the Tigers were 6-for-10 on third down ... The Tigers entered the game as the NCAA FCS leaders in third down conversions ... They are now 67-for-128 on third down (53 per cent) ... On fourth down, they are now 12-for-21.
TURNOVERS ARE KEY: In the Tigers' win over New Hampshire, the Tigers forced a season high four turnovers ... The Tigers were a plus-three in turnover ratio against UNH and they are now plus-eight on the season ... Towson entered the game with a plus-five ratio, third in the CAA.
ATTENDANCE RECORD: The crowd of 8,366 was the eighth-largest crowd in Unitas Stadium history ... Five of the top 14 crowds in Stadium history attended games this season ... Towson also set a single season attendance record, drawing 51,449 fans to six games, an average of 8,575 fans.
ONE FOR THE BOOKS: When the Tigers and the Wildcats combined for 98 points on Saturday, it matched the highest-scoring game in Unitas Stadium history ... On Sept. 21, 2002, Towson beat Brown by an identical 56-42 score at Unitas Stadium.
