Competing at No. 25 West
Virginia University on Sunday was a chance for us to prove that we are good enough to
compete with some bigger, tougher schools.
Just like our other two neets, we made some
improvements and changes and left WVU with things to work on. We tried not to focus
on the scores since we can't control the judges.
Going into this meet we had the mindset that we had just as much right to be there as the other teams. We were
thrown a few curve balls this week but managed to work around it.
Midway
through the week Britney Russell, who has had chronic issues with her back, had
a bad flare up which put her out for the rest of the week. We missed out on our
last practice before the meet due to a last minute team meeting.
At the beginning of the meet, we
didn't have our usual high energy but our strength and conditioning coach,
Kilee Taflinger, gave us a pep talk that really picked us up.
This week's Courageous Tiger went to
Alli (Allison Antenucci) for stepping up at the last minute and taking Britney's place on the beam. Alli also ended the meet on a high note for us with a beautifully hit bar routine.
We are back on the road this week as we travel to the University of Bridgeport.
