TOWSON, Md. –
After competing in the Princeton Invitational Feb. 18, the Tigers return to the
New York Armory for the second time this season for the Armory Collegiate
Challenge Thursday beginning at 12:30 p.m.
“We are looking for some really good performances to cap off
the indoor season,” Towson Head Coach Roger
Erricker said. “This is going to be an important meet for a lot of the
girls.”
Senior Shianna Smith
broke her own school record Saturday at Jadwin Gym in the weight throw event,
recording a result of 59' 8.25” for the Tigers and taking home first place in
the event.
The 1,000-meter run at Princeton was an excellent event for
Towson, which saw freshman Kara Bucaro win the event with a time of 3:01.39.
Junior Emma Tobin placed second in the event for the Tigers with a time of
3:02.88.
A trio of Tigers earned second place finishes in separate events
Saturday. Senior Erika Griffith
finished second in the 3,000-meter run, Katie
Salke placed second in the triple jump and Shannel Shivers was second in the shot put.
Towson also competed at the New York Armory Feb. 10 in a non
scoring meet at the Lafayette-Rider Invitational.
