TOWSON, Md. -Towson will be playing against its second FBS opponent of the season and its sixth FBS opponent all-time when Towson visits LSU ... Although this is Towson's sixth game against an FBS team, it is the first time the Black and Gold has played a nationally-ranked FBS team.
Earlier in the season, Towson played at Kent State and lost to the Golden Flashes, 41-21 ... Turnovers doomed Towson in the loss as the Tigers outgained Kent State, 316 to 247 yards ... The 20-point margin was the closest difference in a game against an FBS opponent in Towson's five-game history ... However, Towson's 28-3 loss to Maryland last year was a much closer game ... Maryland scored two late touchdowns to stretch the final margin to 28-3 ... It was 7-3 at halftime.
IThis is Towson's first-ever game against a Southeastern Conference opponent.

TOWSON vs. LSU: Towson and LSU are meeting for the first time in football ... The two schools have met in other sports however ... The Tiger gymnastics team and the Tiger men's basketball squad have also competed against LSU.
On Nov. 28, 2001, Towson and LSU played basketball in Baton Rouge and LSU won, 83-46.
In 1990, Towson and LSU both qualified for nationals in gymnastics ... At the NCAA Championship Meet at Oregon State, Towson and LSU joined Utah, Alabama, Georgia, UCLA, Nebraska, Oregon State, Cal State Fullerton, Florida, Arizona and Ohio State in the 12-team field ... LSU finished sixth in the nation while Towson placed ninth.
The Towson gymnastics team also competed against LSU in 2001 when Towson joined a four-team field for the LSU Invitational ... LSU won the four-team meet while Towson was second ...Centenary and Texas Woman's University were third and fourth in the meet.
