ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Towson women's tennis team continued its season on Saturday night, falling 6-1 to Seton Hall at the Naval Academy.
The Tigers picked up a singles victory from senior Andrea Samlin at No. 5 singles, defeating her opponent Karina Cordero in straight sets 7-5 and 6-2.
A number of other Tigers performed well despite the losses, as freshman Lorena Ferrer and junior Nisha Shah each earned set victories against their opponents before losing in three sets.
Ferrer took the second set against the Pirates' Madison Shoemaker by a 6-4 margin, but lost the first set 6-1 and the third set 6-2.
Shah won the first set against Rocio Portela 6-4, then dropped the second set 6-2 and the third set tie-breaker 10-1.
Despite the loss, Towson head coach Doug Neagle was happy with his team's effort.
"I was really happy with the way we battled," Neagle said. "Across the board, we didn't give in. Seton Hall is a very good team and we gave it a good effort."
