BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Playing their second match in two days, the Tigers improved to 4-2 overall this season following a 6-1 victory over Lehigh on Saturday afternoon.
"I'm proud of our attitude and the resolve our team showed today, especially after playing in snowy conditions yesterday," Towson head coach Doug Neagle said.
Towson won five singles points as a result of strong depth throughout the lineup, including solid victories for its No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles players.
Freshman Lorena Ferrer continued her strong first season with the Tigers, posting a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Lehigh's Emily Bruch at No. 4 singles. The rookie earned her sixth singles victory of the season, second-most on the team.
At No. 5 singles, Andrea Samlin won her fourth straight singles match with a 6-0, 6-1 winning decision over Jill Sloand.
Towson's Moriah Burke won her match at No. 6 singles, defeating Marian Prim 6-3, 6-3. Burke moved above .500 in singles play this season with her fourth victory of the year and is now 4-3 this season.
The Tigers next host Morgan State on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
