Md. - The Towson University women's tennis team will have
its “Pink Day” on Saturday as part of two matches for the team beginning at 9 a.m. Towson will host Coppin State and Drexel at the Towson Center Tennis Courts.
The matches are a part of a Towson department-wide Pink P.A.W.S. (Proud Athletes Who Serve) initiative, which aims to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match to show support for breast cancer awareness. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The Tigers (4-2) will be looking to extend their winning streak after defeating Lafayette and Lehigh last week. The Tigers won their matches by a combined 10-1 margin, dropping just one singles point against the Mountain Hawks.
Senior Andrea Samlin has been playing excellent tennis as of late, winning each of her last four singles matches to improve to 7-5 overall this season. Samlin defeated Lucy Bass of Lafayette 6-0, 6-0 and Jill Sloand of Lehigh 6-0, 6-1 last week, and her seven singles victories lead Towson this season.
