TOWSON, Md. - Aiming for its fourth win in five matches, the Towson women's tennis team returns to the Towson Center Tennis Courts on Wednesday, when it hosts the Morgan State Bears for a 2 p.m. match.
Now 5-3 this season, the Tigers split a pair of matches over the weekend, defeating Coppin State 7-0 but falling to Colonial Athletic Association rival Drexel 4-3 on Saturday.
Senior Andrea Samlin is currently on a hot streak for the Tigers, winning each of her last six singles matches. That is the longest streak for a Tiger this season, and Samlin leads the team with nine singles victories. She was one of two Tigers to earn a singles victory against both Coppin State and Drexel, as she defeated Ashley Milo of Coppin State 6-1, 6-0 and Aysenil Orhon of Drexel 6-1, 7-6 (7-2).
Joining Samlin with a pair of victories over the weekend was freshman Lorena Ferrer, who knocked off Coppin State's Miranda Taylor 6-0, 6-2 and upended Drexel's Emma Brook 7-5, 6-4.
For the Tigers in doubles action, the duo of Moriah Burke and Ferrer lead the team with an unblemished 4-0 record this season.
Following Wednesday's match, the Tigers will host UMBC on Friday.
