TOWSON, Md. - The Tigers earned their fourth win in five matches and improved to 6-3 overall when they defeated Morgan State on Wednesday by a score of 4-3 at the Towson Center Tennis Courts.
The Tigers displayed great depth in their lineup, as the team's Nos. 3-6 singles players all earned singles victories.
The run started with junior Nani Lizana, who defeated the Bears' Chelsea Russell in three sets 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3.
Not to be outdone, the No. 4 Tiger player, Lorena Ferrer, also earned a victory in three sets over a Morgan State counterpart. Ferrer defeated Jasmine Edwards 6-4, 4-6 and 6-2 to earn her team-high tying ninth singles victory of the season.
At No. 5 singles, Towson's Ariel Burke outlasted Tiffany Hughes in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Senior Andrea Samlin also picked up a singles victory for Towson.
The Tigers return to the home courts Friday for a match against UMBC at 2 p.m.
