HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Playing their first match in nearly 10 days, the Tigers earned a much-needed 4-3 victory over the Hofstra Pride on Saturday, earning their first Colonial Athletic Association victory as a result. Towson is now 8-5 this season, including 1-1 in the CAA.
"This was a very big win for us as we enter a tough stretch," Towson head coach Doug Neagle said. "We're really hoping to build off of this."
Towson earned the decisive doubles point as a result of a sweep of all three doubles matches. The pairings of Ayana Dow and Lorena Ferrer, Nani Lizana and Ariel Burke, and Nisha Shah and Moriah Burke were all victorious for the Tigers.
Shah, Ferrer and Ariel Burke were also winners in singles play. At No. 3 singles, Shah defeated Malissa Gilanchi 6-1, 6-4. Ferrer defeated Bianca Derrick 6-0 and 6-2, while Burke upended Paige Polizois 6-1 and 7-5.
