TOWSON, Md. - Looking to win their second consecutive match, the Tigers will head to Old Dominion on Saturday with a bit of momentum after a strong 6-1 win over Bucknell on Thursday.
Towson (9-6, 1-2 CAA) has won two of its previous three matches and is preparing for a tough upcoming schedule that includes three Colonial Athletic Association opponents over its next five matches.
Against Bucknell, the Tigers displayed solid depth throughout the lineup, as five of six singles players won matches for Towson. Four Tigers posted straight set victories, a group that included Nisha Shah, Lorena Ferrer, Andrea Samlin and Ariel Burke.
Ferrer and Samlin, who have combined for 27 singles wins this season, both did not allow their opponent to win a game, handling their Bison counterparts by 6-0 and 6-0 scores.
Shah became the third Tiger to earn her 10th singles victory of the season, defeating Bucknell's Lydia Colvin 6-2 and 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Shah has won at least 20 singles matches in each of the last two seasons.
