TOWSON, Md. - The Tiger women's tennis team has canceled their match at home with UMES on Friday due to the wet court conditions, Towson head coach Doug Neagle announced. The match will not be made up.
The Tigers will host James Madison on Saturday in the team's final home match of the year. Prior to the match, Towson will honor seniors Andrea Samlin and Moriah Burke in the final home contest of their careers. The match gets underway at 2 p.m.
Towson (11-8, 2-3 CAA) is coming off of a tough 6-1 defeat at Navy, though Samlin and sophomore Lorena Ferrer both played well.
Samlin earned a victory over Logan Antill 6-1, 1-6 and 10-6 in the tiebreaker at No. 4 singles and improved her seasonal singles record to 16-6. She leads the team in victories and has record at least 14 singles victories in all four years of her career.
Ferrer has played very well as a freshman tallying a 15-8 record in singles play. She also teamed with Samlin to earn a doubles victory against Navy.
Towson has a match at Loyola scheduled on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. as its only remaining regular season match before the Colonial Athletic Association Championships begin on April 19.
