TOWSON, Md. - Following a 12-9 regular season, the Towson women's tennis team will compete in the Colonial Athletic Association tennis championships, beginning Friday morning. The sixth-seeded Tigers will face third-seeded James Madison in the tournament's opening round Friday at 9 a.m. William & Mary will serve as the tournament's host school.

The 12 wins during the regular season mark the third consecutive season under head coach Doug Neagle that the Tigers have reached the 12 win mark. Prior to Neagle's hiring during the 2009-10 season, the Tigers had won 12 matches in a season only five times since 1976-77.

Towson has been led this season by freshman Lorena Ferrer and senior Andrea Samlin. Ferrer has made an instant impact in the Tiger lineup, recording a 16-9 singles record. She is second behind only Samlin's 17-7 seasonal mark.

Ferrer and Ariel Burke have also played very well in doubles and are tied for the team lead with 13 doubles wins. Burke's best work in doubles play has been with junior Nani Lizana, as the duo has a 7-4 record as a team. That is the best record of any Tiger doubles team this season.

James Madison enters the match with an 11-6 record, including a 4-3 mark in conference play. Cara Wirth and Taylor Pinchoff each have 18 singles victories and are tied for the team lead.
