MORNING ROAR: Friday, May 24, 2013

Good morning Tiger Nation and welcome to the Morning Roar.

Let's Unleash the Roar

I want to start by saying congratulations to all of the students and student-athletes that graduated over the last two days or who will walk across the stage later today. Take the time to celebrate with your friends and family on this major accomplishment, you earned it! I would also like to welcome you to the Towson Alumni Club. I am proud to call each and everyone of you fellow alums. I had the chance to attend the second session of graduation yesterday and it was an amazing ceremony. I saw many of my former classmates walk across the stage and the smile on their faces was priceless. After the ceremony I caught up with @Towson_SB's Kelli Lyons and @Towson_WLAX's Alexa Demski to see how they are feeling about being college grads.

@Towson_BASE is sitting pretty in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament after they picked up their second straight win yesterday. The Tigers defeated top-seeded UNC Wilmington yesterday in a tight battle, 13-11. Towson continued to hit the cover off the ball as the Tigers hit four homeruns for the second straight game. Zach Fisher led the Tigers at the plate as he went yard twice in the game! Remember, heading into the tournament, the last long ball that Fisher hit was at the 2012 CAA Tournament. Fisher finished the day 2-for-5 with a career-high six RBI. Peter Bowles and Andrew Parker also hit homeruns in the win. The Tigers are hitting .356 with eight home runs in two games in the tournament and will look to keep the bats hot today at noon when they play for the right to play in the Championship game.

Congratulations to @Towson_MLAX's Thomas DeNapoli and Andrew Wascavage for being selected as Honorable Mention All-Americans by the USILA. DeNapoli and Wascavage are the first Tigers since Christian Pastirik in 2010 to earn this honor. The duo became the 39th and 40th players in program history to be Honorable Mention All-Americans since 1980. Wascavage finished his career as one of the top goalies in the history of the illustrious program and good news for the Tigers, DeNapoli will return next year for his senior season.
