TOWSON vs. NAVY: The Tigers take to the road for the first time this season, traveling to Annapolis to face Navy in Alumni Hall. This is the 10th meeting between the two teams with the Tigers ahead in the series, 7-2. Towson is 3-1 against the Mids in Annapolis. Navy notched its first home win against the Tigers two years ago, winning 73-59. The Tigers got their revenge last year, handing the Mids an 86-68 loss to register their largest margin of victory in a season opener in 19 years. Josh Thornton scored a career high 24 points to lead the way. Jarrel Smith, making his Towson debut, tallied 18 points. Calvin Lee, in his first appearance as a Tiger after a two-year career at Allegany Communitiy College, just missed a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Towson forced 18 Navy turnovers, coming up with 11 steals. The 86 points were the most for the Tigers in a win last year. Navy is the only Patriot League opponent on Towson's schedule this year.

UPDATING TOWSON: Buffalo spoiled the Tigers' hopes for just a third 2-0 start in the last 20 years when the Bulls escaped the Towson Center with a 78-69 win in overtime. Towson's two distinct cold shooting spells; one that was a costly start to the second half the other that occurred during the entire overtime period, allowed the Bulls to erase an 11-point deficit and eventually outscore the Tigers 13-4 in the extra session. The Tigers fell behind by nine points with 9:23 left to play but a late rally and a Troy Franklin three-pointer with 21 seconds left forced the overtime to decide the 65-65 tie. The Tigers missed all five field goals they attempted in the overtime while the Bulls connected on four of five from the floor and 5 of 7 from free throw line to gain the victory. Starting  Robert Nwankwo did not play in the game (coach's decision). Franklin led the way with 17 points. Calvin Lee added 15 points and a team high 9 boards. Jarrel Smith registered 16 points and Josh Thornton chipped in 13.

UPDATING THE MIDSHIPMEN: Navy enters the game with a 1-3 record that includes a 63-56 loss in Alumni Hall to the same Buffalo Bulls that slipped out of the Towson Center with a 78-69 overtime win against Towson this past Saturday. Navy's lone win was a 79-76 contest at Longwood. The Midshipmen are coming off an 83-72 loss at Long Island. Starting point guard O.J. Avworo (8.0 ppg and a team high 17 assists) did not play at LIU due to an injury he suffered against Buffalo. Key reserve T.J. Topercer was also sidelined. Senior gaurd Chris Harris is leading the way with his 16.5 scoring average. An excellent free throw shooter (23 of 25 thus far) 23 of his total 66 points have come at the charity stripe. His backcourt mate, sophomore Jordan Sugars, is pitching in with 13.3 points per game. Sugars is also tough off the boards, leading Navy with a hefty 8.5 rebounding clip. A third guard, junior Romeo Garcia, is also in double figures with his 12.5 average. He's Navy's second leading reounder with his 6.8 average. .
