INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Senior Alise McDonald, senior Jackie Schweitzer  and sophomore Avis Hixon of the ECAC Champion Towson University gymnastics team have qualified as individuals for the NCAA Gymnastics Championships and will be part of the field at the NCAA Morgantown Regional Meet on Saturday, April 10 at West Virginia University.

McDonald, who won the all-around title at the ECAC Championship Meet two weeks ago, is one of five individuals who qualified as an all-around for the NCAA Regional Meet. She is seeded second among the individual all-arounds.

Schweitzer, a two-event standout who was honored as the ECAC Specialist of the Year, has qualified for the NCAA Regional Meet on bars and beam. Hixon, who competed on vault and floor for the Tigers, qualified in both of those events.

Junior Megan Wooden of Towson has been chosen as an alternate in the all-around while sophomore Kacy Catanzaro is an alternate on vault and beam.

The eighth-leading scorer in school history with more than 1,700 career points, McDonald qualified for the regional meet with a 38.800 Regional Qualifying Score. On Saturday, she turned in one of the best performances of her career as she led Towson to its sixth consecutive ECAC title. She won the all-around title with a 38.95 score, the third-highest mark of her career. She also won the ECAC title on vault with a 9.85 and finished third on floor exercise (9.80). McDonald also finished eighth on beam (9.625) and was seventh on bars (9.675).

A two-time selection as ECAC Gymnast of the Week in 2010, McDonald earned first team All-ECAC honors on vault, floor and all-around. She was second team All-ECAC on bars and beam.

With a 9.87 R.Q.S. on vault, McDonald is ranked fourth in the NCAA Southeast Region.

Schweitzer was the top-ranked performer on bars in the ECAC this season and finished first on uneven bars in 7 of 12 meets. The ECAC champion on bars as a junior, she was the ECAC runner-up on bars this season with a 9.775 score. She also finished sixth on beam at the ECAC Meet with a 9.65 score that clinched the title for Towson. One of the co-winners of the ECAC Scholar-Athlete Award, Schweitzer was a first team All-ECAC selection on bars and beam. A two-year co-captain, she was also honored as the ECAC Specialist of the Week twice this season.

At the ECAC Meet, Schweitzer moved into ninth place on the Tigers' career scoring list with 1,619.375 points.

Honored as the ECAC Specialist of the Week twice, Hixon has a 9.81 R.Q.S. on vault and a 9.76 R.Q.S. on floor. She helped the Tigers win the ECAC championship by tying for second place on vault (9.80) and tying for fourth place on floor (9.75). She earned first team All-ECAC honors in each event.

At the NCAA Morgantown regional meet, Stanford will be the top seed among the six teams at the meet. Stanford is joined by Michigan, Southern Utah, North Carolina State, Kent State and host West Virginia at the regional meet.

As the second seed in the all-around, McDonald will compete with Michigan. Hixon and Schweitzer will compete with West Virginia.

The Tigers finished their season with a 20-4 record and won their sixth consecutive ECAC championship in Coach Dick Filbert's final season as coach. He is retiring after guiding the Tiger gymnastics program for 28 years. His wife, Assistant Coach Lynda Filbert, is also retiring after 22 seasons with the program.
