WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Shanae Baker-Brice Named to Preseason All-CAA Second Team; Tigers Picked to Finish 6th

WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Sophomore guard Shanae Baker-Brice (Theodore Roosevelt H.S./Washington, D.C.) of the Towson University women's basketball team has been named as a second team selection on the 2007-2008 Colonial Athletic Association Preseason All-Conference Team, it has been announced by CAA officials.

 

In addition, the Tigers were picked to finish sixth in the CAA this season in a vote by the league's 12 head coaches, sports information directors and selected media members.

 

Baker-Brice, who was named to the All-Rookie Team last season, led the Tigers in scoring with a 13.7 average while making 41.0 per cent of her field goal attempts. A four-time recipient of the CAA Rookie of the Week award last year, she scored 25 or more points three times, including a season-high 28 points in a win over Mount St. Mary's.

 

The Tigers, who finished with a 19-12 record last year, were voted to finish sixth among the CAA's 12 teams this season. Old Dominion, which has won the last 16 conference titles, was selected to repeat as CAA champions followed by James Madison, William & Mary, Virginia Commonwealth and Delaware.

 

The Tigers will begin the season on November 9 when they travel to Mount St. Mary's for a 7:00 p.m. game against the Mountaineers.
