TOWSON, Md. ? Senior goalkeeper Christina Armer
(Conestoga Valley H.S./Lancaster, Pa.) of the Tigers has been selected
to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA)
Division I Senior All-Star Game, which will be played on Saturday,
November 18 on the campus of Wake Forest University.
Armer is one of 38 senior field hockey players who will compete in
the All-Star Game set for 7:30 p.m. at Kentner Stadium in
Winston-Salem, N.C.
A three-year starter for the Tigers, Armer has led the Tigers to a
9-8 record this season. She has played 1148 minutes and allowed 32
goals. With a 1.95 GAA, she ranks sixth in the Colonial Athletic
Association.
Armer also leads the CAA with 127 saves and her .799 save percentage
ranks second in the CAA. She has four shutouts this season, second in
the conference.
In late September, Armer was honored as the ECAC Goalkeeper of the
Week and the CAA Player of the Week after leading the Tigers to
back-to-back shutout wins over West Chester and Northeastern. Armer did
not allow a goal in 153 minutes and 10 seconds while making 26 saves in
the two games.
In a 4-0 win over West Chester, she earned a shared shutout and made
five saves. In the Tigers' 1-0 double overtime victory over
Northeastern on Sunday, she played 92:10 and made a season high 21
saves.
Armer is the second Tiger to be selected to play in the NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game. In 2004, Julie Lambi, '05 was selected to play in the NFHCA All-Star Game.
The Tigers of Coach Lynette Mitzel close out the
regular season this weekend with a CAA game at William & Mary on
Friday night and a home game against Drexel University on Sunday
afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.
