PHILADELPHIA, Pa. ? Senior wide receiver Andrae Brown
(Milford Mill H.S./Randallstown, Md.) of the Tigers has been named as a
first team selection on the Atlantic 10 Football Pre-Season
All-Conference team, it was announced at the A-10's annual Media Day on
Wednesday.
The seventh-leading receiver in the Atlantic 10 last season, Brown caught 63 passes for 870 yards and eight touchdowns.
A second team all-conference pick in 2005, he set a conference
record when he caught five touchdown passes at Northeastern on
September 30. He was honored as the A-10 Offensive Player of the Week
after that performance.
One of the Tiger co-captains, Brown enters his senior season with 98
career receptions for 1,271 yards and ten touchdowns. He has also
rushed for two touchdowns in his career.
In a pre-season poll of the Atlantic 10 coaches and a panel of media
members, James Madison was picked as the favorite to win the A-10 South
Division while New Hampshire was tabbed as the favorite to win the A-10
North.
The Tigers, who were 6-5 overall and 3-5 in the A-10 last year, were
picked to finish sixth in the A-10 South behind James Madison,
Richmond, Delaware, William & Mary and Villanova. James Madison
received 17 of 27 first place votes in the A-10 South while Richmond
received nine first place votes and Delaware earned one. New Hampshire,
which was the number one-ranked team in NCAA Division I-AA for most of
last year, received 22 of a possible 27 first place votes to win the
A-10 North.
Under the direction of Coach Gordy Combs, the
Tigers return eight starters on offense and eight starters on defense
as they prepare for their third season of competition in the Atlantic
10 Football Conference.
The Tigers open their season on Saturday, September 2 against Morgan State University in Johnny Unitas® Stadium at 6:00 p.m.
