AD Blog - July 12, 2008

You might have trouble focusing on the 2008 college football season. After all, we were just watching Fourth of July parades and the summer beach season has just begun. But you can't wait ? FOCUS!

The 2008 football season at Towson will be different. For the first time, the Tigers will be facing an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision team. We open the campaign at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30 in the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis against the Naval Academy. It's an event you will not want to miss!

This year, Labor Day Weekend comes early; the football season comes early and the opportunity to get tickets in the Towson section to watch the Tigers against the Midshipmen comes early. On August 1,  we will have to return any unsold tickets.

Our season ticket holders and donors have purchased tickets. Now, we are selling all remaining tickets in our fan block through the Towson Ticket Office (410-704-2244) at $32 each. With the August 1 deadline, you have two weeks to make the commitment to attend the game. I've not been to a game at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. I've heard the pageantry is outstanding. Towson has never played a FBS team. I've heard people have been waiting a long time. Don't wait to buy your tickets!

To add to the celebration, the Alumni Relations Office has put together a great package for a tailgate reception and game ticket, exclusively for Towson alumni. Each alumnus can purchase one additional package for a guest. I've attached the invitation here. This is a reservation only event and alumni and guests must pre-pay to attend. Walkup tickets will not be available. Plus, space is limited so act now if you plan to attend.

The kickoff to the 2008 season will be here before you know it. There will be more excitement about the Tigers than ever before. I hope that you will be in the stands enjoying the day and cheering for Towson with me and my family. I look forward to seeing you there!
