FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - Junior Nayasha Mauchaza finished in a tie for first to lead the Tigers to a third place finish in the 2009 McLaughlin Tournament played on the Bethpage Park Red Course this weekend.
Coastal Carolina pulled out the team title with a 5-under par 835. UNC Wilmington was second at 839. The Tigers shot an even par 840 for their third place.
Mauchaza carded a 72 on his final round to tie two other golfers for medalist honors at 208 for the tournament. It was the highest finish of his career.
Senior Chris Scialo posted a 68 on his final round to tie for sixth at 210. Junior John Duthie came in with a final round 69 and finished 12th at 212. Freshman Johnny Hayes tied for 38th with a 218. Senior Josh Jenkins tied for 68th with a 224.
