Tigers Place 3rd At Delaware Invitational

NEWARK, Del. - Junior Lindsay Warfield showed the way for the Tigers with a seventh place finish as Towson ran third in the 14-team Delaware Invitational held at rained soaked and muddy  White Clay Creek State Park Saturday morning.

Warfield posted a 19:18 to lead four Tiger runners who finished among the top 20 in the field of 114.

Sophomore Liya Kasimova ran ninth overall in 19:29. Sophomore Katie Ogden was third for Towson and 14th overall with a 19:40 clocking. Sophomore Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue was 18th in 19:50.

The Tigers suffered a bit of blow when one of their top runners, junior Brandi Gervais, had to withdraw from the race at the 2.5 mile mark because of an ankle injury."

"It was a disappointing race," said Tiger coach Roger Erricker. "After Brandi went down it hurt us because she was running very well and certainly would have helped in the scoring."

Millersville's Priscilla Jennings took top individual honors by touring the 5K course in 17:51. The host Blue Hens captured the team title, holding off George Mason
