Erica Marshall and Brittany Hadaway Named to All-CAA 2nd Team

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior forward Erica Marshall and senior midfielder Brittany Hadaway of the Tiger women's soccer team have been named as second team All-Colonial Athletic Association selections, it has been announced by CAA officials.

“This is a conference that usually has a handful of All-Region and All-American selections every year. So when you are recognized on the All-CAA team, you are among the nation's best and I think Erica and Brittany have been there for us this year,” Towson Coach Greg Paynter said.

Marshall was the Tigers' leading scorer as a senior with nine goals and three assists. She scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the Tigers' 4-3 overtime victory against Drexel on October 19. In addition, she scored two goals with two assists in a 4-1 win over Bucknell on August 28, earning a spot on the National Team of the Week from TopDrawerSoccer.com.

Marshall also scored both goals in the Tigers' 3-2 overtime loss at James Madison in late September.

One of the Tigers' all-time leading scorers, Marshall finished her career with 55 points, tied for fourth on Towson's career list. She scored 23 goals with 9 assists in her career.

“What you have seen out of Erica this year is the result of having six seniors around her, so she didn't have to do everything herself,” Coach Paynter said. “She was able to relax on the field and that allowed her to have some really good games. While she was the focal point of the offense, she had more help around her this season.”

A third team All-CAA selection in 2008, Hadaway started all 20 games as a senior, scoring one goal with one assist. She tallied the Tigers' lone goal in a 1-1 tie against Princeton and earned an assist in the Tigers' overtime victory over Drexel.

A four-year starter at midfield, Hadaway played in 75 career games and made 74 starts. She scored four goals with three assists in her career. She was named to the CAA's All-Rookie Team as a freshman.

“It's great to have Brittany be recognized by the CAA for the second straight year,” Coach Paynter said. “For her to move up from the third team to the second team this year is a credit for what she has done and how hard she has worked.”

The Tigers finished the season with a 7-11-2 overall record and a 3-7-1 mark in the CAA.
