TOWSON, Md. - Towson head basketball coach Pat Kennedy welcomed another local Baltimore player to the Tigers' 2010-11squad when Damion Lee of nearby Calvert Hall signed a National Letter of Intent.
"Damion has a tremendous basketball background, having played in the always tough Catholic League," said Kennedy. "We project him as an outstanding swing player. He possesses great hands and quickness. He comes from an outstanding family and has benefited from his experience at Calvert Hall."
The 6-6 forward averaged 11.0 points and 7.0 rebounds for Calvert Hall last year, earning All-Baltimore County honors. The Cardinals posted a 30-7 record in 2008-09.
"I am thrilled that Damion has chosen Towson," said Calvert Hall coach John Bauersfeld. "Coach Kennedy and his staff have a proven track record of developing players and I know Damion will prosper at Towson academically and athletically."
There are currently four other local products in Towson's program; juniors Braxton Dupree of Calvert Hall and Danny Quinn of Spalding, sophomore Troy Franklin of Mt. Carmel and freshman Isaiah Philmore from John Carroll. Dupree is redshirting the 2009-10 season after transferring from Maryland.
"I am excited about the opportunity to attend Towson University," Lee said. "I liked what the school offers academically. I look forward to playing for Coach Kennedy because I like the way that he allows the guards and wings to be versatile players."
Lee is the third signee for Towson this fall. Earlier the Tigers signed pre-season junior college All-American guard Cephas Oglesby from Cape Fear (N.C.) Community College and 6-11 forward Jamel Flash from West Hempstead, N.Y.
