TOWSON, Md. - Towson University Head Volleyball Coach Paul Koncir has stepped down from his position, Director of Athletics Mike Hermann announced today. A search for his successor will begin immediately.
"I very much enjoyed my time with the student-athletes and staff at Towson," said Koncir. "I will always consider it a home. I am looking forward to moving on to other opportunities for myself and my family."
"Paul has always been a team player and he continually had the best interest of the student-athletes in mind," said Hermann. "I appreciate his four years of service directing our volleyball program, and I wish him well in his future endeavors. He's left the program with a solid core of players for the future."
Koncir, the ninth coach in program history, led the Tigers to a 56-65 record during his four years as the head coach of the program. The Tigers made two appearances in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament during his tenure. Koncir coached six all-conference selections, including 2006 CAA Rookie of the Year Alysha Fanning and two-time all-conference selection Maddie Haseltine.
