Fratzke, Trumbo Named to CAA's 25th Anniversary Team

RICHMOND, Va. – Two of the most outstanding players in Towson University history, Becky Trumbo, '06 and senior midfielder Hillary Fratzke, have been named as members of the Colonial Athletic Association's 25th Anniversary Women's Lacrosse team, it has been announced by CAA officials.

In conjunction with its 25th anniversary celebration, the CAA is selecting 25th Anniversary Teams in 21 sports. Each team consists of 25 honorees from the CAA's past and current membership.

A native of Eldersburg, Md., Trumbo is the Tigers' all-time leader with 79 assists and ranks second in school history with 257 points. One of four players with 200 or more career points, she ranks third on the Tigers' all-time list with 178 career goals.

In addition, Trumbo ranks second in school history with 168 draw controls and eighth on the Tigers' all-time list with 135 ground balls.
A three-time All-CAA selection, Trumbo earned first team honors as a sophomore and junior and was named to the second team as a senior. An outstanding student, she was a two-time selection as the CAA's Scholar-Athlete for women's lacrosse.

In 2005, Trumbo scored 52 goals with 31 assists and was a third team All-America selection by the IWLCA while leading the Tigers to the CAA championship and their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

Trumbo was named as Towson University's Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 2006. She was also the recipient of the Tiger Athletic Fund Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

“For four years, Becky was an unstoppable scorer in the CAA,” Towson Coach Missy Doherty said. “Her drive to win and unwavering dedication to succeed are big reasons why she deserves to be on this team.”

The first two-time All-America selection to play for Towson, Fratzke enters the 2010 season with 148 career goals and 55 assists. The fourth-leading scorer in school history, she is also the program's all-time leader in draw controls (257) and caused turnovers (111). She is also fourth on the career list with 156 ground balls.

Fratzke has recorded a point in all 54 games of her career and she begins the 2010 season with a streak of 48 consecutive games with a goal, which is the longest active streak in NCAA Division I.

In 2006, Fratzke was named as the Rookie of the Year by the CAA and Towson University after scoring 30 goals with 14 assists while setting the NCAA record by averaging 6.29 draw controls per game. She was also a second team All-CAA selection and was named to the CAA's All-Rookie Team.

After scoring 48 goals with 12 assists as a sophomore, the Centreville, Md. native was named as a second team All-American and was honored as the CAA Scholar-Athlete for women's lacrosse. She also contributed 56 draw controls and 41 caused turnovers.

In leading the Tigers to the 2008 CAA Championship, Fratzke became the first player in school history to earn first team All-America honors after scoring 62 goals with 24 assists. Named as the CAA Player of the Year, she set a school record with 47 caused turnovers while recording 86 draw controls, the second-highest total in school history.

Fratzke scored eight goals with five assists in three games last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury. She earned a medical “redshirt” and will serve as a co-captain for the third straight year during the 2010 season.

Fratzke is the only active player named to the CAA's 25th Anniversary Team.

“Hillary has established herself as one of the top midfielders in the CAA and in the country,” Coach Doherty said. “She is an extremely competitive and successful player and I am excited that she has received such a prestigious honor.”
