NEW YORK, N.Y. - Ashley Adams and Shianna Smith captured first place finishes to lead the Tigers at the NYU Fastrack Indoor Invitational Meet held at the Armory Track and Field Center.
There were no team scores in the open meet.
Adams won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.65 seconds, just one-one hundredth of a second off her Towson record pace of 8.64 seconds. She also placed third in the long jump with an effort of 17'-9.75" that moves her into eighth place on Towson's top ten list.
Smith, who has dominated the 20lb. weight throw all season, finished on top again with a throw of 55'-8.25".
News was made in the 5000-meter run where junior Brandi Gervais placed fifth but still managed to set the program's indoor record with a 17:45.33.
Sophomore Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue posted the second fastest mile time ever at Towson with a clocking of 4:56.66, just a second off the record time of 4:55.40 set by Michele Mathsen in 1998. It's just the second sub five-minute mile ever run by a Tiger.
Gilmartin-Donohue teamed with Kaitlyn Dillow, Liya Kasimova and Nicole Smith to set a new school record in the 4x800 relay in a time of 9:21.97, shattering the old mark of 9:36.34 set back in 2004.
