PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Led by a pair of second place finishes from freshman Adrienne Phillips, the Tigers finished 7th out of 24 teams at the ECAC Division I Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend at the University of Pittsburgh.
Phillips earned a second place effort in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:27.52 while adding a second place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle, completing the event in 17 minutes, 14.13 seconds. She also placed seventh in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.98.
"Our women competed extremely well at the ECAC Meet," said Towson Coach Pat Mead. "It was a great opportunity and they took full advantage of it with so many outstanding performances. Placing seventh with just seven swimmers at the meet was remarkable."
Junior Monica Wolgast placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.38 while junior Chelsea Kling tallied a fourth place effort in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.96). Kling also finished 12th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.09 seconds.
Senior Emilie Hoeper won the consolation final of the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.17 while freshman Wendy Sharer earned 12th place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:07.30. Hoeper also earned 11th place in the 100-yard backstroke (58.15) while Sharer was 14th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.76).
Sophomore Jenny Nevin earned 10th place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.20 while freshman Kelsey Rouse followed in 12th place (1:05.90). Nevin was also 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke while Rouse followed in 14th place.
The Tigers also had success in four of the five relays during the ECAC Meet. They placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.22 while adding sixth place efforts in the 400-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay. The Tigers also contributed an eighth place result in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
