ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Andrea Samlin recorded a win for the Tigers at third singles but it was not enough as Towson fell at Navy by a 6-1 score on Sunday evening. Samlin has now won four straight singles matches for the Tigers (2-5).
The Mids took an early lead in the match as they won all three doubles matches to capture the doubles point. At first doubles it was Brittney Boucher and Emani Decquir posting an 8-4 win over Lauren Cloonan and Samlin. Dye Das and Stefanie Ton earned an 8-2 win over Beth Daub and Katie Young at second doubles. Navy wrapped up the doubles sweep as Lindsay Olsen and Julie Dias defeated Caitlin White and Aandria Carr by an 8-6 final.
In singles play, Decquir earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Cloonan in first singles. At second singles it was Boucher posting a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Carr. Samlin earned the Tigers' point with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ton at third singles. Das defeated Cassandra Ng 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles. In fifth singles action it was Natalie Houle contributing a 6-0, 6-1 win over Young. Olsen wrapped up the match with a 7-6, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) win over Daub.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, March 9 at Howard for a 2:30 p.m. match.
