Tigers Visit Rutgers For Meet On Saturday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Coming off a second place finish at the University of Bridgeport's Quad Meet last Friday night, the Tigers (15-3) will visit Rutgers University for a tri-meet against the Scarlet Knights and Yale University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Livingston Athletic Complex.

The Tigers earned their best road score of the season (193.05) at Bridgeport last week and will be seeking another strong performance on the road when they visit Rutgers.

Coach Dick Filbert will be counting on seniors Alise McDonald and Jackie Schweitzer in the meet at Rutgers. McDonald had her best meet of the season at Bridgeport, winning the vault competition with a 9.90 score that matched her season high. She also matched her seasonal high with a 9.65 score on the balance beam. McDonald finished third in the all-around competition with a 38.90 score, her top mark this year.

Schweitzer continues to excel as a two-sport specialist. She has been the Tigers' most consistent performer on the uneven bars with a 9.653 average. She is also averaging 9.441 on the balance beam.

Both McDonald and Schweitzer continue to climb the Tigers' career scoring list. With 1,522.425 points in her career, Schweitzer is tenth on Towson's all-time scoring list. McDonald is 11th on the career scoring list with 1,516.125 points.

Sophomore Lindsay Poplaski has been performing well in the last three meets. On bars, she has had three consecutive scores of 9.50 or higher. She has also done well on beam with three consecutive scores of 9.575 or higher.

Another sophomore, Alyssa Dittman, has been one of the Tigers' most consistent performers on vault and balance beam. She has a 9.503 average on vault and a team-leading 9.544 average on balance beam.

After Saturday's meet, the Tigers have two meets remaining in the regular season. On Wednesday, March 17, the Tigers visit George Washington University. The regular season comes to a close on Saturday, March 20 when Towson hosts Brown and Southern Connecticut in a 7:00 p.m. meet in the Towson Center.
