Jackie Schweitzer Named As ECAC Specialist of the Week

CENTREVILLE, Mass. - Senior Jackie Schweitzer (Holy Trinity H.S./Hicksville, N.Y.) of Towson University has been named as the winner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Gymnastics Specialist of the Week Award, it has been announced by ECAC officials.

A four-year standout for the Tigers, Schweitzer led Towson to a 193.400 team score and a first place finish at the Rutgers University Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon. While posting their second-best team score of the season, the Tigers edged Bridgeport (193.200) for first place while also beating Rutgers and Yale.

Competing on uneven bars and balance beam, Schweitzer earned a pair of seasonal high scores while taking second place in each event. On bars, she took second place with a 9.825 score. On beam, she finished second with a 9.80 score.

Schweitzer has been one of the Tigers' most consistent gymnasts this season, helping Towson post an 18-3 record. She has won five titles on bars and owns a 9.672 average. On beam, she has had two first place finishes and has a 9.48 average.

With 1,560.75 career points, she is the tenth-leading scorer in the history of Towson gymnastics.

The Tigers conclude the regular season with two meets this week. On Wednesday evening, Towson visits George Washington University.

The Tigers close out the regular season on Saturday night by hosting Brown University and Southern Connecticut in the Towson Center at 7:00 p.m.
