CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Katie Lingmai was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Co-Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday by ECAC officials. She shared the honor with Julie DiMatteo of Niagara. Lingmai was also named the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Lingmai went 3-0 for the Tigers in the circle last week including her first career no-hitter on Sunday against James Madison.
Lingmai made her first start of the week in Tuesday's 8-2 win over Villanova. She threw the first six innings of the game giving up two runs on four hits. She struck out five and walked just one in that appearance. On Saturday, Lingmai started game-one of the doubleheader and helped the Tigers to a 7-4 victory. She threw a complete game allowing four runs, two of which were earned on seven hits. Lingmai struck out eight and walked two batters.
On Sunday, Lingmai pitched one of the best games of her career. She had six strikeouts and two walks in the no-hitter. It was the first of Lingmai's career and the eighth in program history. The Tigers had not thrown a no-hitter since the 2005 season.
For the week, Lingmai was 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA in 20 innings of work. She struck out 19 batters including 14 in 14 innings at James Madison. On the season, she is 12-6 with a 1.47 ERA. Lingmai has 106 strikeouts so far this season, which ranks ninth in single-season history at Towson.
Lingmai and the Tigers return to action on Wednesday, April 28 when they host Coppin State. The doubleheader is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
