RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Meredith Budner of the Tiger women's swimming and diving team has been named as a co-recipient of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Swimmer of the Week award for the week ending November 21, it has been announced by CAA officials.
Budner, who shared the award with junior Erla Haraldsdottir of Old Dominion, earned her third CAA Swimmer of the Week award this season. It also marks the ninth time in her career that she has been honored with a weekly award by the CAA.
“I was pleased with Meredith's performances this weekend,” Towson Coach Pat Mead said. “For Meredith to break a CAA record in the middle of the season is a great indicator of how the year will finish for her.”
Budner led the Tigers to a fourth place finish at the Terrapin Cup last weekend. She placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:50.84) and 1650-yard freestyle (16:31.85) along with a third place effort in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:22.84.
Prior to placing fourth in the 200-yard freestyle, Budner set a school and CAA record in the preliminaries by turning in a time of 1:46.86.
The Tigers, who are 7-1 in dual meets this season, will be idle until January 8 when they host Delaware at Burdick Pool at 1 p.m.
