CAA Cites Tigers For Academics

RICHMOND, Va. - Tiger guards Brian Morris and RaShawn Polk were named to the Colonial Athletic Association's All-Academic Team announced Thursday night at the league's pre-tournament awards banquet.

Morris, a graduate student in Mass Communication with a 3.73 grade point average, was named to the league's All-Academic First Team for a third straight year. He earned his undergraduate degree in 2010 and returned for his final season of eligibility as a graduate student.

A transfer from Richmond, Morris played for the Tigers for the past three years. Over his career he appeared in a school record 120 games. This season he has led all Towson guards in rebounding with a 3.3 average; 89 of his 96 boards were defensive rebounds. He has averaged 6.7 points, his best season in the three years with the program.

He is also second on Towson's all-time assist list with 399 going into the CAA Tournament. His 93 assists are a team high for this year. He is tied with sophomore forward Isaiah Philmore and junior forward Braxton Dupree for most starts this season with 28. Morris tallied his career high of 21 points against UNC Wilmington.

Towson's nominee for the Dean Ehler's award, Morris was recently named to the Capital One District II University Division All-Academic team.

Polk, a Psychology major with a 3.17 grade point average, was named to the All-Academic Second Team. He scored his career high in the 89-74 win over Coppin when he pumped in 29 points. He is the third leading scorer this season with an 11.5 average. His 18 double figure games are second on the team.

He was more active beyond the arc in the last 10 games of the regular season, making 21 of his season's 48 treys during that time (21 of 55 for 36.8%).

Senior forward Danny Quinn was also listed among the honorable mentions. Saw action in 19 of the last 21 regular season games, giving support off the bench. He is majoring in accounting.
