TOWSON, Md. - The inaugural Tiger Bowl, formerly known as the Black and Gold Spring Football Game, has been scheduled for Saturday, April 30 as the culmination of a full day of activities for Towson University sports fans.
The Tiger Bowl, which signals the end of spring football, will be played at 1 p.m. in Johnny Unitas® Stadium. Admission to the Tiger Bowl is free and open to the public.
Tiger Bowl Saturday starts at 9 a.m. with a Youth Football Clinic that will be held in the Towson University Soccer Complex. The clinic is open to all eighth graders or younger and it will be conducted by the Tiger coaching staff.
At the conclusion of the Youth Football Clinic, the Tiger women's soccer team will host its annual alumni game in the Towson Soccer Complex.
At 10 a.m., the Tiger Football Alumni Game will be played in Unitas Stadium. Former football players will return to the gridiron in a game of flag football on Minnegan Field.
Following the Tiger Football Alumni Game, the football alumni will hold a tailgate in Parking Lot 19 starting at 11:15 a.m. Tickets for the Alumni Tailgate are $20 for adults and $15 for children. Pre-registration is required for the Alumni Game and the Alumni Tailgate. Football alumni can register online by clicking here.
The inaugural Tiger Bowl will conclude the Tiger football team's Spring season. Coach Rob Ambrose and his staff have 48 letter winners and a talented group of newcomers who will be hoping to impress the coaching staff during the Tiger Bowl.
Senior fullback Tyler Wharton and junior defensive end Frank Beltre lead the Tigers' veteran contingent. Wharton earned second team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors as a junior while Beltre was a third team All-CAA selection.
At the same time, the Tiger softball team will be hosting an important CAA doubleheader against James Madison University on the Towson Center Field starting at 12:00 noon.
At 7:30 p.m., the Tiger men's lacrosse team will host CAA rival St. Joseph's University in Unitas Stadium in its regular season finale.
