Jess Dunn Named CAA Co-Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior attacker Jess Dunn of Towson University has been named as a co-winner of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week award for the week ending April 17, it has been announced by CAA officials.

It is the first time in Dunn's career that she has been honored with the weekly award. She shares the honor with Old Dominion junior midfielder Lisa Bernardini and William & Mary senior midfielder Grace Golden.

“Jess continues to do an outstanding job despite drawing our opponent's top defenders,” Towson Coach Sonia LaMonica said. “This has been a new role for her and one that she is adjusting to very well.”

Dunn scored five goals in leading the Tigers to a pair of CAA victories last weekend, including a win over ninth-ranked James Madison. She scored four goals, including the game-winner in the final minute of the first segment of overtime, as the Tigers rallied for a 10-9 victory over the Dukes on Friday night. She also added a goal in the Tigers' 11-7 victory over George Mason on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers' leading scorer with 33 goals and 34 points this season, Dunn has scored a CAA-high 13 goals in conference games this season. She has also scored a goal in 11 straight games after opening the year with just three goals in her first three games.

Entering the final weekend of the regular season, Dunn needs just 10 points to become the 22nd player in school history to record 100 career points. She has scored 87 goals with 3 assists in her career, including 80 goals in the last two seasons.

After starting the season with a 1-4 record, the Tigers have won seven of their last nine games and have moved into a tie for first place in the CAA standings with James Madison. Now 8-6 overall and 4-1 in the CAA, the Tigers will finish the regular season this weekend when they host Old Dominion on Friday night and William & Mary on Sunday afternoon.
