Black and Gold Golfers Set To Tee Off Monday

WHITE HALL, Md. - On Monday morning, the golfers for the inaugural Hall of Fame Black & Gold Invitational will tee off Greystone Golf Course.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the shotgun start at 9 a.m.

A contingent of 13 members of the Towson University Athletic Hall of Fame will golfing on Monday. Hall of Famers John Andrade, '85 (baseball), Betty Lou Bischof Andrade, '85 (women's basketball), Joe Ardolino, '75 (men's lacrosse), John Blatchley, '92 (men's lacrosse), Mike Bruno, '79 (men's soccer), Dan Crowley '95 (football), Tom Grem, '82 (golf), Bob Griebe, '75 (men's lacrosse), Steve Hornish, '80 (men's lacrosse), Chuck Lightening, '93 (men's basketball) and Mark Orlando, '95 (football) are all signed up, along with Vince Angotti (Basketball Coach) and Bill Hunter (Director of Athletics, Baseball Coach.)

Highlighting this year's event is a great line-up of silent auction items as well as a host of special contests to bring about a fun day of golf, food and fun for Towson Athletics. 

There will be four home game experience packages auctioned off for men's basketball, women's basketball, football and men's lacrosse games during the upcoming 2011-12 academic year. 

Each game experience package includes four (4) game tickets, four (4) Under Armour sweatshirts, a pregame meal with the team, sit in on the pregame locker room speech by the head coach, autographed game ball, sit in on the post-game press conference, and be a special guest on the halftime show. 

Other featured items include:
• Framed Cal Ripken, Jr. autographed jersey
• Framed Gary Neal autographed jersey
• Autographed Cal Ripken, Jr. baseball
• Framed autographed photograph of Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones
• Men's (XL) Under Armour gift package
• Women's (M) Under Armour gift package
• Towson University golf bag and one ticket to play in the Towson Alumni and Friends Outing sponsored by The Grille at Peerce's on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Hillendale Country Club.
• Towson University golf bag and golf prize pack donated by the University Store
• Autographed NFL football signed by members of the Baltimore Ravens, including Joe Flacco
• Autographed NFL football signed by Joe Flacco

Specific holes will include the following contests by Towson head coaches, current student-athletes, as well as Director of Athletics Mike Waddell:

Hole #1 – Special contest with New Head Men's Basketball Coach Pat Skerry
(For a donation of $10 per foursome, you will gain the benefit of being able to play your second shot from the Towson Tiger basketball 270 yards out on the fairway.)

Hole #2 – Head Men's Soccer Coach Frank Olszewski
(For a donation of $10 per foursome, you will gain the benefit of being able to deduct one stroke if Coach Olszewski can juggle his soccer ball 10 times in a row.)

Hole #4 – Outdrive Director of Athletics Mike Waddell
Longest Drive (Male and Female)

Hole #8 – Closest to the Pin with Gymnastics Coach Vicki Chliszczyk and Assistant Coach Becky Schaller.

Hole #9 – Buy a drive from a member of the Towson Men's Golf Team
(For a donation of $10 per foursome, you will gain the benefit of being able to play your second shot from Joe Mathews drive off of the women's tee box)

Hole #11 – Head Women's Basketball Coach Joe Mathews
(For a donation of $10 per foursome, you will gain the benefit of being able to play your second shot from Joe Mathews drive off of the women's tee box)

Hole #13 – Head Cheerleading Coach Edy Pratt
(For a donation of $10 per foursome, you will gain the benefit of being able to play your second shot from the Towson Cheerleading megaphone 270 yards out on the fairway)

Hole #14 – Closest to the Pin

Hole #15 – Head Women's Golf Coach Kate Stepanek

Hole #16 – Hole in One Contest Judged By Associate Director of Athletic Media Relations Dan O'Connell – Win a Harley Davidson
