RICHMOND, Va. - Senior goalkeeper Jocelyn Papciak has been named as a member of the Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer team, it has been announced by CAA officials.
Papciak is the first player to be named as a Preseason All-CAA selection since 2007 when goalkeeper Brandi Daniels earned the honor.
A second team All-CAA pick last year, Papciak led the CAA with
113 saves in 20 games, a 5.65 average. She also ranked third in the CAA
with an .807 save percentage and was tied for second in the CAA with six shutouts.
Papciak
recorded a season-high 10 saves three times last season, including a pair of 2-1
victories over Old Dominion and Northeastern. She also had nine saves
in a scoreless tie against VCU on October 3.
One of five
players in school history with at least 200 career saves, Papciak ranks
sixth in school history with a 1.55 career goals against average.
A Business
major, Papciak is also an outstanding student with a 3.978 grade point
average. A Dean's List student, she earned Capital One/CoSIDA Academic
All-District II second team honors last year and is a candidate for the
Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. During the summer, she served an internship
at Under Armour as part of its Rookie Program.
One of the
Tigers' co-captains last year, she is a member of the Towson University
Student-Athlete Advisory Council and was the recipient of the Towson
University Vice President of Student Affairs Leadership Award.
The Tigers open their 20th season on Saturday, August 20 against Loyola at the Towson Center Soccer Complex at 5 p.m.
