Ten Things To Know About the Towson-ODU Game

NORFOLK Va. - Here are ten things that every fan should know as they get ready to watch the No. 17 Tigers' game against No. 18 Old Dominion at Foreman Field on Saturday afternoon.

No. 1 - First Meeting: This is the first-ever meeting between the Tigers and Old Dominion, a first-year member of the Colonial Athletic Association. 

No. 2 - 2 Former National Champions: The Tigers have already beaten two recent national champions this season. After a 31-10 victory over Villanova, the 2009 national champion, the Tigers beat Richmond, the 2008 NCAA FCS champion, last week.

No. 3 - 3rd Season: Old Dominion is playing its third season of intercollegiate football after starting up the program in 2009.

No. 4 - 4th In Nation: Averaging 37 points per game, Old Dominion is ranked fourth in NCAA FS in scoring. 

No. 5 - 5.1 Yards Per Rush: The Tigers lead the CAA by averaging 5.1 yards per rushing attempt. At the same time, Old Dominion is giving up 2.5 yards rushing attempt.

No. 6 - 6 Straight Home Wins: Old Dominion has won six straight home games. ODU's last loss at home on Oct. 9, 2010 against Cal Poly.

No. 7 - 7 Virginia Natives: The Tigers have seven Virginia natives on their roster. They will be playing in their home state when they visit Old Dominion. Tailbacks Tremayne Dameron, Sterlin Phifer and Dominique Booker join guard Anthony Davis, linebacker Danzel White linebacker Derek Wright and tight end Daniel Vaughan are all natives of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

No. 8 - 8 Field Goals: Place kicker Jarrod Brown of Old Dominion leads the CAA with eight field goals. He has connected on eight of ten attempts.

No. 9 - 9 Rushing Touchdowns: Tiger tailback Terrance West has scored a CAA-leading nine touchdowns. Terrance is tied for third in NCAA FCS in touchdowns scored, trailing Cory McCaffrey of Portland State (12) and Lavante Page of Florida A&M (10).

No. 10 - 10 Touchdowns: In five games, the Tiger defense has allowed only ten touchdowns, the lowest mark in the CAA.
