Tigers Move Up To 15th In NCAA FCS Rankings

TOWSON, Md. - For the fourth consecutive week, Towson University is ranked among the Top 25 in The Sports Network/Fathead.com NCAA FCS College Football Weekly Poll, which was announced on Monday.  The Tigers, who are now 5-1, are ranked 15th in the nation.

This is the highest national ranking that the Tigers have ever received at the NCAA Division I-AA level. The previous best ranking was 17th . The Tigers, who were ranked 17th in the nation last week, were also ranked 17th in 2006.

The Tigers opened the season with wins over Morgan State, No. 20 Villanova and Colgate. After a loss to Maryland, the Tigers have won two games in a row against nationally-ranked teams, edging No. 14 Richmond (31-28) and rallying for a 39-35 come-from-behind win over #18 Old Dominion on Saturday.

Towson joins No. 9 Maine, No. 11 James Madison, No. 13 New Hampshire, No. 14 William & Mary, No. 16 Delaware, No. 18 Richmond, No. 21 Old Dominion  and No. 22 Massachusetts as Colonial Athletic Association teams that are ranked in the Top 25. The CAA is the first conference ever to have nine teams ranked in the NCAA FCS Top 25. Villanova and Rhode Island are the only CAA schools that are not ranked among the NCAA FCS Top 25.

The Tigers, who are tied for first in the CAA with a 2-0 record, have won all three of their games against Top 25 teams.

On Saturday, the Tigers travel to William & Mary to face the Tribe, ranked 14th in the nation this week.
