Grant Enders, Terrance West Earn CAA Weekly Awards

RICHMOND, Va. - After leading the nationally-ranked Tigers (6-1, 4-0) to a 38-27 win over William and Mary, sophomore quarterback Grant Enders and freshman tailback Terrance West have been honored as winners of two of the Colonial Athletic Association's weekly awards, it has been announced by CAA officials.  

Enders was named as the CAA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. West was honored as the CAA Rookie of the Week for the fourth time.

"I am so proud of our kids and our staff and how hard they have worked," says Coach Rob Ambrose.  "Their focus and work ethic as a group has allowed for these individual accolades."

Enders, who was also honored after leading the Tigers to a 42-3 win over Morgan State in the season opener, earned his second CAA award by completing 15 of 21 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns at William and Mary. He also ran for 37 yards on six carries. In the first half, Enders directed four touchdown drives as he led the Tigers to a 28-17 halftime lead. In the first quarter, he threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to sophomore tight end James Oboh, giving the Tigers a 14-0 lead. In the third quarter, he completed a three-yard TD pass to senior fullback Tyler Wharton, putting the Tigers ahead, 35-17.

Enders, who has won all six of his starts, has completed 98 of 137 passes this season. He has thrown for 1,229 yards and nine touchdowns with four interceptions. With a 162.7 pass efficiency rating, he ranks second in the CAA and eighth in NCAA FCS. He is also fourth in the CAA while averaging 236.0 yards of total offense per game.

Named as the CAA Rookie of the Week for the third week in a row, West rushed for 141 yards on 23 carries in the win at William & Mary. It was his third consecutive 100-yard rushing game. He also scored three touchdowns against the Tribe, all in the first half. His two-yard run in the first quarter gave the Tigers a 7-3 lead. When he scored on a two-yard run on the second play of the second quarter, the Tigers owned a 21-3 advantage. His six-yard touchdown run with 5:12 left in the first half put the Tigers ahead, 28-10.

West, who leads NCAA FCS with 14 touchdowns, is the sixth-leading rusher in the CAA with 93 carries for 591 yards. He is averaging 84.4 yards per game and 6.4 yards per carry.

The Tigers, who are 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the CAA, return to action on Saturday evening, Oct. 29 when they host the University of Delaware at Johnny Unitas® Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
