– Tiger teammates Kaitlin Burke and Caroline Baker have been named as the
Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, it
has been announced by CAA officials. It was the second time this season the duo
has been given the award in the same week. Burke and Baker also received the
accolades Nov. 8.
Burke was third in the 50-yard freestyle against Maryland
on Saturday, finishing with a time of 24.51 seconds. She also won the 100-yard
freestyle in 52.76 seconds, marking her fourth victory in the event this
season.
“That's a great time for her and a really impressive time
at this point in the season,” Coach Pat Mead commented on Burke's 100-yard performance.
Baker put together an excellent list of dives in the
one-meter dive and finished in first place with 299.48 points. She also
finished third in the three-meter event, scoring 275.78 points.
“Caroline came back determined and dominated the
one-meter,” Diving Coach Maureen Mead
said. “The plan that has been put in place is working and we're right on
target.”
The Tigers return to Burdick Pool on Saturday for a home
CAA meet against George Mason at 1:00 p.m.
