Czarnecki Receives Co-CAA Swimmer of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - After winning three individual events Saturday while helping Towson defeat George Mason 212.50-87.50 in a Colonial Athletic Association meet, senior Cari Czarnecki was named Co-CAA Women's Swimmer of the Week, it has been announced.

"She had a great meet," Towson Coach Pat Mead said. "It's exactly what we want at this point of the season, and she's a bit faster than she was at this point last year. Every swimmer wants to end their career on a high note and with Cari, the momentum keeps building."

Czarnecki established a Burdick Pool record with a time of 2:01.64 in the 200-yard butterfly, breaking Duncan Gordon's record by over four seconds and cruising to a win in the event.

Czarnecki also won the 100-yard butterfly in 57.50 seconds and took home a first-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:30.76.

Czarnecki will share the weekly award with Carly Tanner of UNC Wilmington.

The Tigers return to action Jan. 21 as part of a double dual meet against UMBC and Loyola (Md.). The meet will begin at the UMBC Natatorium at 1 p.m.
