TOWSON, Md. –
Towson will go on the road for the first time in three weeks Saturday, when the
men's swimming and diving team faces the Loyola Greyhounds and UMBC Retrievers
in a double dual meet at the UMBC Natatorium at 1 p.m.
Towson (2-5, 1-3 CAA) received stellar performances from a
plethora of freshmen last Saturday against George Mason, including Andy Disco, Matt Lowe and Matt Collingwood.
Lowe was particularly impressive, as his second-place finish
in the 500-yard freestyle was timed at 4:44.93, a lifetime best.
“The youth on the men's side has been great,” Towson Head
Coach Pat Mead said. “Matt Lowe is swimming faster now, which is a great thing.
Hopefully we'll have some close races this week.”
Disco and Collingwood each had a pair of top-five finishes
against George Mason. Disco placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (53.94)
and 200-yard backstroke (1:56.60). Collingwood timed 48.92 seconds in the
100-yard freestyle, finishing fourth. He also finished third in the 1000-yard
freestyle with a time of 9:49.04.
Sophomore diver Alex Cohen will also be counted on to provide a solid list after finishing third
in the one-meter dive with 225.83 points and second in the three-meter event
with 278.75 points against the Patriots.
