TOWSON, Md. –
Towson will compete in its final home meet of the season Friday at Burdick Pool
against the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays beginning at 1 p.m.
“We're going to have to swim extremely well,” Towson Head
Coach Pat Mead said. “The biggest
thing I want to see is continued improvement from all the kids on the team. We
still have a long way to go.”
The Tigers have had a
great deal of success this season, as the team's three wins is the most the
program has recorded since the 2006-07 season.
Led by a stellar freshman class that has produced multiple
top contributors, Towson is hoping to build momentum as the CAA Championships
near.
Following Friday's meet, the Tigers will travel to Old
Dominion Saturday for their second meet of the weekend. It will be Towson's
second straight week it has faced more than one opponent.
Led by freshmen Matt Lowe, Matt Collingwood and Andy Disco, the Tigers defeated Loyola
(Md.) 154-140 Jan. 21. Each of the trio had at least one finish in the
top-three places during the meet. However, the Tigers were also defeated by
UMBC 171-114.
Friday's meet will also serve as a Pink Meet, as the Tigers
(3-6, 1-3 CAA) will wear pink caps in support of breast cancer research and
awareness. Donations will be accepted and fans are encouraged to wear pink in
support of the fight against breast cancer.
